- The “Old Testament” or “Old Covenant” is the first 39 books that give the account of creation, and then the Jewish nation from which Jesus came.
- The last 27 books are the “New Testament” or “New Covenant”, giving the account of Jesus coming to earth, His work while He was here, and most importantly, His death, burial, and resurrection from the dead, and His ascent into Heaven.
- Most of these books are organized accounts or letters from eye witnesses of His life and His work. Although written by many individuals over a great span of time, there is incredible consistency and continuity throughout, and it was God Himself, communicating what He wants us to know about who He is and the relationship He desires to have with us.
